On Thursday, the Government of National Unity ordered the termination of an agreement between the Arabian Gulf Oil Company and the private Libyan oil firm Arkenu.
Established in 2023 in Benghazi, Arkenu quickly emerged as a notable new player in Libya’s oil sector.
With links across both eastern and western power centres, it became the first private company authorised to export Libyan crude, marking a departure from the long-standing monopoly of the National Oil Corporation.
