Key Highlights
- The High Council of State (HCS) held a leadership vote with 95 members, and elected Mohammed Takala as the HCS Head. The session achieved legal quorum and Takala was officially recognised by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL). The session was boycotted by former HCS Head Khalid al-Mishri and over 40 other HCS members.
- The European Union Delegation to Libya released a statement acknowledging the UNSMIL’s approval of the HCS leadership vote and congratulated Takala’s election.
- The Stability Support Apparatus (SSA) announced that it has taken over security operations in the western Libyan suburb of Janzour.
- Clashes between two families in the Wershafana area led to the death of the 55th Battalion commander Ramzi al-Lafaa. The 55th Battalion was a part of the 3rd Company, affiliated with Deputy Defense Minister Abdulsalam al-Zoubi.
- The Tripoli Court of Appeals accepted an appeal from Judicial Police Commander Sabri Hadia after Government of National Unity (GNU) Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dabaiba attempted to replace Hadia for a second time, violating an earlier decision from the Appeals court.
